Furniture Friday : Cantilever Chair

Designed by  Dutch architect, Mart Stam in 1926, who was awarded the European patent for the Cantilever chair. He created this chair with  commercial gas pipes and joint fittings.
They were used for the first time in 1927 in the Weissenhof-Siedlung in Stuttgart.

Beautiful, modern minimal chair: Designed by a Finnish Architect – Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) while designing the Paimio Sanatorium which was completed in 1930.

The Paimio lounge chair was the climax of three years of
experimentation to create a chair that would feel comfortable to sit
in over long periods and help ease patients’ breathing. The scrolllike
seat was molded from a single piece of birch plywood, while
its flexing structure made the wood feel ‘soft’ and welcoming.

The Swan Chair designed by Arne Jacobsen for the lobby and lounge areas at the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, in 1958.


 

Available in a wide range of fabric and leather upholstery. The star base is made of aluminum mounted on a satin polished steel pedestal. The shells are made of a synthetic material, padded with cold-cured foam.
